    Lads.
Recently smashed Baptist run & have been tasked with the role of 2ic.
    Break, Roger so far.
Had previous years of experience climbing the ranks in the cadets beforehand till I was 19.
think what you may, but has helped me in my drills so far so I throughly recommend it.

Just writing in to assist in any quezzies or information with someone with hands on experience in phase 1 training as there's alot of falseness I see.
    Anything corps history.
    Phys quezzies
or general kit list for showing up.
    Cheers.

    Cheers

Good effort & well done so far.

I'd certainly endorse the fact that involvement in Uniform Youth Organisations (Cadets - Any) and things like Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes are of a huge benefit to those aspiring to join the Armed Forces.

What falseness have you come across with regard phase one?

    Spot -on.

Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers (CFAV) are the backbone of the cadet organisations and a superb way of gaining practical leadership & management experience which is an excellent way to prepare to join the Armed forces as an Officer.

We're certainly all for busting myths. Are there any we can use to put the record straight to help those who follow-on behind?

To be fair, this thread is a good example of the way in which recruits are enthused and eager to help those that follow.

It's also an illustration of the acquired natural state held by those who've trod the same path and perhaps no longer as keen, maybe using a spot of gentle banter to ground everyone. "Good effort, but you're not there yet".

In the RN I see this all the more, in much more extreme circumstances.

We often get potential young sailors visiting a warship only to be greeted by a wave of negativity from disaffected individuals who tell them "Don't join, it's crap".

The obvious reciprocal question to a cynical RN AB is simply; "Why are you still here, mate?"

Likewise, each milestone in Recruit Training is an achievement, and life from the Recruit's perspective is "one day at a time". Taken as a whole, Recruit Training would otherwise be a much more daunting prospect.
