Master Sgt Lowe sounds like a good egg to me.

At first, I thought Lowe was being absurd when he claimed to hate everyone equally,” said Army psychiatrist Lt. Col. Penny Cromwell. “I dismissed him, but on his way out, he approached a captain sitting in the waiting area and asked if there was a new regulation that allowed ‘just officers to stick their goddammed hands in their pockets?’ I immediately rushed over and urged him back into my office.

Guatemala was (inadvertently) invaded across the Belize border by British military personnel on more than one occasion. :)

There was a very funny bit about that on 8 out of 10 cats does countdown a few years ago when Susie dent said she found it extremely annoying, then when asked why by Jimmy carr immediately replied with 'So, it's because...'

Spoken language is littered with verbal ticks and 'space fillers' which, you know, errm... don't translate, like, to a forum post; if you get what I mean? :)

Beginning a sentence with the 'so' word is my least favourite verbal tick because it isn't a 'filler' at all. It's merely a bad habit.

Mine also. To me it's an arrogant presumption by the person using the unnecessary preposition as a sentence starter that they know more than the person they are unwittingly patronising.

The odd thing, it's precisely one of the listed irks at the start of the 200 page thread about "things that annoy you"

In retrospect it's kinda funny that the "Things that make you laugh" thread is a third of the content of the "Things that annoy you" thread :D

Not really a laughing matter but... my nomination for the 2019 Darwin Awards:

    Screenshot 2019-12-01 at 18.02.56.png

A 65-year-old American man who rigged his home with a booby trap to keep out intruders has been killed by the device.
Ronald Cyr called police in the town of Van Buren in the state of Maine to say he had been shot.
Police found a door had been designed to fire a handgun should anyone attempt to enter. Mr Cyr was taken to hospital but died of his injuries.
It is not uncommon for home-owners to install such traps - but it is illegal.
Police in Van Buren, which borders the Canadian province of New Brunswick, said they responded to a 911 call in the early evening of Thanksgiving, last Thursday, from a man who said he had been shot.
"Following an extensive investigation that lasted into the early morning... it was determined that Mr Cyr had been shot as the result of the unintentional discharge of one of his homemade devices," the police department said in a Facebook post.
"Regretfully, Mr Cyr succumbed to the injuries he sustained from the gunshot."
It is not known how he managed to set off the device.

I'm not a forensic scientist but my guess is that he opened his own door. :)

    Edited to add:
