I'm sure there's people here that have used one

do I take this into the station and use it to buy a ticket? or do I just get on the train and show it to the ticket inspector when asked?

Hand it in at the ticket office and they will swap it for a ticket

Yep, top tip is get to the station early as there's bound to be a queue at the ticket office- alternatively change it a few days before you go- just check they print the correct day of travel on the ticket.

The Warrant isn't valid on the train so you must exchange it for a ticket before you get on the train. Check out the printed full standard fare on the ticket - it's absolutely outrageous!
