    Hi all,
I’m currently in the process of joining RMR Merseyside - Birmingham (in the medical stages) and have been reading up about the training commitments. Does anybody know if there is alternate ways to get to the detachment or would I have to delay my application until I am able to drive, as I am only 16 at the minute and my parents wouldn’t be able to get me there.

Cheers mate, I’ll have a look.

If I were to use public transport would I be reimbursed for the travel costs?

You can apply for train warrants and am sure there’s a process for claiming back public transport.
I’ll get back to you with the details.

If you’re 16, why are you joining RMR and not Regulars? Out of interest?

I always wanted to go in the regulars but I’ve now got an apprenticeship in place doing something I really enjoy and I thought I might aswell get the best of both worlds. I’m really Interested in the marines and would love the opportunity to be a part of them.

HMS Forward is by the blues ground.

Get your self a day saver on Travel West Mids - when I was 16 cost about £3 for the day which was cheaper than two separate journeys.

Pretty sure once you get to Det. there will be someone driving your way mate.

I'm lucky to live in walking distance but there are great transport links
