Kings Squad passout on Friday was unforgettable! Apart from the rain, which lasted all day, it was a wonderful day. We all met in the function suite for tea/coffee, then moved to the Falklands hall where there was talk about the training team, where people were from & what family are ex-forces. The curtain opened and all our lads were there in their Lovats, looking really smart. They took it in turn to go up to get their green beret, whilst something was said about each one. After they all had their new berets, the awards were given out. It was very emotional and made me so proud. Whilst the lads went to get changed into the Blues, we watched the training film which was great and really got a feel for what they'd gone through. We then went to the shed as it was too wet for the parade ground but it didn't spoil it. They marched in with the band playing and everyone was clapping and cheering. After they were inspected they did some drill moves then the awards were presented for Kings Badge and the commando medal. They then marched out to 'life on the ocean wave', I'm still getting chocked up watching it on my video! Back to the function suite to buy the photos and official dvd...£47 for photos & £25 for DVD. Buffet lunch was on and the bar was open. Shortly after the lads came in to everyone clapping and cheering. We all greeted them and chatted to the training team. The lads looked so happy and relieved. The afternoon was great with everyone taking photos and chatting. It was a really happy time for all of us. It was one of the best days ever and will never be forgotten. It's someting to look forward to and even better to look back on!
