Up to date Pay scales?

Hi,
Just would like to know more about the pay scales.
As an Other rank Marine do i get a payrise yearly? If so is that from the day i started recruit training, or passed out?

There are incremental pay rises based on your incremental basic date. The IBD starts six months after you join. You don't get an incremental pay rise every single year, they are 12 monthly until you reach the top scale for the rank you are. Once you get promoted, your IBD moves to that date and you get annual incremental pay rises until you reach the top increment for that rank.

You also get a cost of living pay rise in theory every April ish. Recently pay was frozen for a few years in this respect.

So just to confirm the IBD payrise is still in place but the cost of living payrise has been frozen?

The incremental pay rise aspect still exists but there are fewer increments, there used to be nine. Word is that they may phase it out altogether as the private sector doesn't pay people more for just doing the job longer.

The cost of living annual rises were only frozen for those of us above a certain threshhold, those on the new entry rate of pay and the early years pay increments were never affected.
