Just going over revision for the VC Winners, always get goosebumps reading their actions. Personal favorite is Maj. Lumsden and his actions at the Western Front.

What do you guys think of the VC winners and have you got a favorite or one that you can really picture vividly?

All are immortalised by their bravery, however one of my 'faves' is Thomas Peck Hunter.

At lake Commachio in Italy 1945, with his section pinned down by three German MG42s, hunter grabbed his sections Bren Gun, told his section to fall back with his distraction, and went on to charge the enemy machine guns that were set up in some houses 200 meters away.

With little to no cover, Hunter charged so aggressively that 6 Germans surrendered. He reached the houses changing magazines on the move he killed the remaining gun team, soon after dying under withering enemy gun fire which had been brought down on the position.

His section escaped unhurt to the rest of their unit.

John Prettyjohn, what a geezer, got everyone to throw rocks at the Russians and then had a fist fight with the captain(?), surprised he was nimble enough with those massive balls
