    Even the 10 year olds would lap me. I'm like a turtle, I can swim for a long time but I'm really slow.

    Decreasing the number by 1 each round, 10 rounds of;
    RM press ups
    Pull ups
    Clean and jerk

    Then

    50 burpees

    Then

    5 rounds of 20 cal row, 10 RM press ups and 10 KB swings

    Rough. (for me anyway! sure there's plenty of blokes who would piss this)

    Did my first BFT in about 3 years today.
    Out was 12:28
    Return was 10:22.

    Not happy with it given the times I used to get, but it's a great baseline for me to work from. (I'm also 10kg heavier!)

    Incredibly wet hill sprints day, shoes were squelching just by the time I’d run to the hill. On completion sat at the top of the hill and watched the rain coming across the valley before it struck me that that meant I was about to get considerably wetter...
    Had a bath and intend to stretch later.

    Did 2 rounds of Fintan circuit yesterday with squats, alternating lunges, RM press ups, wide press ups, burpees, diamond press ups, sit ups, flutter kicks and leg raises. First time properly doing Fintan and might be the last because its *text deleted*ing rank. all good for you though right? Hill sprints today for a bit of extra fun.

    Update to my post above: hill sprints ended up being done in 'The Land of Nod' - if you know this area then you know it's not fun.-vomit-

    I did a RMFA last night, minus the bleep test.
    I still use the treadmill on an incline, I know the test is conducted without.

    Treadmill 2% incline;
    2.4km in 11:30ish (warm up)
    2.4km in 8:33 (return)

    To the beep;
    Push ups - 49
    Sit ups -77
    Pull ups - 9

    What time did you get? Good effort.

    It's worth remembering that the official advice from CTCRM is that prior to commencing RT candidates should not run in boots and/or carrying weight. If this sounds like kill-joy advice from someone old enough to be your grandfather you're probably not far wrong. :)

    But seriously, CTCRM has amassed a vast amount of data about injuries and their causes so 'official' advice from that source is worth considering.

    @Chelonian got sub 2 hours which I was happy enough with I guess.
    I was aware of this and so my training only consisted of walking with the weight and no running whatsoever because this was just for ‘fun’ and there is no point jeopardising the chance for a career in the RM over it. Maybe not the wisest method of training but hey ho! Appreciate the advice nonetheless:)

    To be honest, ultimately it's a matter of personal choice.
    The official advice is posted here from time-to-time because some assume that running with a loaded bergen is an effective pre-RT training method when in reality other stuff will be almost certainly be more beneficial and reduce the risk of injury.

    As an aside, whether one yomps or tabs the reality is being able to effectively function militarily at the end of it. For anyone unaware tab = Tactical Advance to Battle. The clue is in the name, I guess.
